 GFC SOFTWARE PATCH ROUTINE                                    Revision 1

This is the Patch program for use with various products from GFC Software.  
In order to keep the file size to a minimum, we have not included an 
installation routine.


To install this program, do the following:
-----------------------------------------

1.  Create a new subdirectory on your hard drive named C:\GFCPATCH.
    NOTE: You may install the Patch program in a different drive or
    directory, but you must then edit the PATCH.PIF file accordingly,
    and make the appropriate changes to the path in each of the steps
    marked with an asterisk (*) below.

2.  UnZip its components to that new subdirectory (C:\GFCPATCH) *.  The
    following files are included:

        PATCH.EXE
        PATCH.ICO
        PATCH.PIF
        README.TXT (this file)
        UPGRADE.COM

3.  Add "C:\GFCPATCH" to your PATH statement so that the individual 
    patch files will be able to locate the Patch program. *

4.  Create a new Program Manager item (or Shortcut, if you are using 
    Windows 95) in the group(s) containing your GFC Software product(s).
    Refer to your Windows documentation for assistance in creating the
    new item.

    - The description should be "Upgrade product" (where "product" is the
      name of the GFC Software product to be upgraded).

    - The command line should be C:\GFCPATCH\PATCH.PIF. *

    - The startup directory should be the directory in which the particular 
      GFC Software product is installed.

    - The icon should be C:\GFCPATCH\PATCH.ICO. *

You are now ready to upgrade your GFC Software product(s).


To apply an upgrade, do the following:
-------------------------------------

1.  Obtain the patch files from GFC Software.

2.  UnZip the patch files in the directory containing the GFC Software
    product to be upgraded.  These files will typically include

        PATCH.RTD
        PATCH.RTP
        UPGRADE.TXT

    and possibly other files as needed by the particular patch being
    applied.

3.  Click on the "Upgrade product" icon (where "product" is the name of the
    GFC Software product to be upgraded).

4.  The Patch program will display information about the upgrade being
    applied, and may include additional instructions.  Just read and
    follow the on-screen instructions.
